Certificate III in Electrical Fitting

College of Electrical Training Inc (CET)

This qualification is part of the Electrotechnology Training Package. It provides competencies to manufacture, fit, assemble, erect, operate, test, fault find, alter, repair electrical equipment and includes electrical wiring work only if that work is associated with assembling, maintaining, terminating or altering the wiring between electrical components within a plant or machinery. An electrical fitter is not authorised to install any electrical wiring systems within an electrical installation as prescribed by definitions contained in AS/NZS 3000.

Subjects you can Study:

Core: Participate in electrical competency development plan; Apply OHS regulations, codes and practices in the workplace; Fabricate, dismantle, assemble utilities components; Solve problems in DC circuits; Fix and secure electrotechnology equipment; Use drawings, diagrams, schedules, standards, codes and specifications; Document and apply measures to control OHS risks associated with electrotechnology work; plus more. Electives: Provide quotations for installation or service jobs; Diagnose and rectify faults in lifts/escalator systems; Wind electrical coils; Prepare and connect refrigerant tubing and fittings; plus more.

Established in 1995, College of Electrical Training Inc (CET) caters for all sections of the electrical industry including domestic, commercial, industrial and mining. All courses include a strong emphasis on OS&H and the primary focus is the provision of trained electrical workers for the electrical contracting industry. The College provides pre-apprentice training to persons looking to enter the electrical trade and traineeships in the Telecommunications and Security industries for the Australian Apprenticeship system. The College also offers post trade training for electrical workers in all aspects of electrical contracting and may deliver some training on-site for employers. Customised training is available.
