The Associate Degree of Aviation (Flight Operations) is part of CQUniversity's innovative suite of aviation courses and will prepare students for a career as a commercial pilot. Students will gain academic and aeronautical knowledge required to achieve a Commercial Pilot Licence and Command Instrument Rating. In the first year of this two-year degree, you will fly solo in the circuit area of the training aerodrome, and throughout your studies you will learn about unmanned aerial vehicles, the physics of aerodynamics, aeronautics, meteorology, navigation, flight planning and loading required by commercial pilot. Students wishing to continue their studies and become a commercial pilot, they will be required to complete the Graduate Diploma of Aviation (Flight Operations) in addition to this course.

Study pathways

Upon the successful completion of their studies, students from the Associate Degree of Aviation will be able to progress into the Bachelor of Aviation (Flight Operations) or Graduate Diploma of Aviation (Flight Operations) course.

Further information

Students will be required to gain a 'Class 1' medical certificate at their own expense during the first term of study. Students will also be required to obtain at their own expense a Student Pilot Licence and Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC). Some units require students to attend residential school.
