This course aims to enable students to plan and design buildings ranging from residential homes to medium-rise commercial buildings including restorations, renovations, unit development and extension work. Students will develop the skills to become confident in design and documentation, construction, structures and be knowledgeable in building materials and services, professional practice and communication and in the key principles of sustainability.

Recognition
The Associate Degree of Building Design satisfies the educational requirements for the Building Design Medium Rise license, issued by the Building Services Authority, Queensland.
Study pathways
On completion of the Associate Degree of Building Design, students will be eligible for credit towards the Bachelor of Building Design, which provides a higher building design qualification with Building Services Authority, Queensland.
