The Associate Degree of Engineering allows students to develop the skills required to become an engineering associate and gain knowledge of engineering principles, relevant to the testing, inspection, drawing, adaptation, commissioning, management or operation of on-site equipment, plant and systems. There is an opportunity for students to tailor their studies to their area of interest by selecting from majors of civil, electrical, mechanical or mining engineering or engineering geology. Upon completion of this course, students will satisfy the academic requirements for membership with Engineering Australia as an Engineering Associate.

Standard entry requirements

Year 12 or equivalent. English language requirements apply.

Recognition

Graduates satisfy the academic requirements for membership with Engineers Australia as an engineering associate. The Engineering Geology major is recognised by the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM). The Mining major is recognised by the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM).

Study pathways

Exit award: Diploma of Technical Studies. The Associate Degree of Engineering can be used as a pathway into the Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Honours).

Further information

This course is only available for part-time study. Some units require students to attend residential school. All students must complete at least six weeks of approved industry practice.
