On completion of the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) students will be a well-rounded graduate qualified for professional registration as a teacher throughout Australia. A unique feature of this course is the opportunity for students to gain a nationally recognised Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care within their first one to two years of the course. This will allow students to work as a qualified early learning professional in childcare centres throughout the remainder of their studies. In addition to building the skills required to teach effectively in a wide range of contemporary educational settings, this course prepares future teachers who have the disposition for engaging in, and contributing to, the teaching profession through a commitment to ongoing professional learning.

Exit awards: Associate Degree of Education; Bachelor of Teaching. This course entails a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care embedded award. Students interested in teaching may also consider the Bachelor of Education (Primary) and Bachelor of Education (Secondary). Students may continue their studies in education through the Graduate Certificate in Brain Based Education, Educational Leadership and the Master of Education (by Research).

All applicants must meet non-academic criteria required by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership, for entry to this course. To find out more about CQUniversity's English language requirements visit www.cqu.edu.au/elp. Students will be required to complete 120 supervised placement days and a 25 day internship in order to satisfy the course accreditation requirements. Students studying on campus in Cairns, Gladstone or Townsville will be supported through a combined delivery of on campus and online study.

Recognition:

Graduates will be eligible to apply for provisional registration with the Queensland College of Teachers.
