The Bachelor of Accounting gives students the opportunity to study a degree that is recognised by professional accounting bodies throughout Australia and to take advantage of the rapidly changing career opportunities that exist in the modern business environment. Students will develop technical and analytical skills in computing, economics and management to ensure they graduate work-ready. Additionally, domestic students at CQUniversity also have the option to complete two work integrated learning courses as electives, enabling students to gain practical experience and further enhance their employability. Upon completion of the Bachelor of Accounting, students can pursue roles in auditing, assurance, banking, business consultancy, financial planning, forensic accounting, professional accountancy and taxation.

Study Pathways:

Students have the opportunity of completing a major (or one or two minors) from a number of other business and non-business disciplines. Accounting can also be studied as a dual degree with Laws or Business. On completion of the degree students may be interested in postgraduate courses in Management, International Business or completing a Master of Business Administration.

Further information:

Only the first year of the course is available internally at Bundaberg and Mackay campuses. Second and third year units may be required to be undertaken via a combination of workshops, internal classes and distance education. Course only available for Term 3 entry at Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and by distance education. Courses at Cairns and Townsville may be delivered by a combination of on-campus study, workshops, residential schools and online.

Recognition:

Depending on the units studied, applicants may be eligible for membership of Certified Practising Accountant Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and the Institute of Public Accountants-Restricted Member IPA status. These organisations accredit each campus individually. As a graduate of this course students may also be eligible to join the Association of Taxation and Management Accountants at the Member Level and may be eligible to apply for registration with the Tax Agents Board provided you meet the board's requirements.
