Students undertake the Bachelor of Engineering Pre-Major in their first year and on successful completion proceed in their second year to a chosen Engineering and Science specialisation. The double degree is designed to prepare students who will graduate as engineers with advanced scientific skills in a discipline closely aligned with their engineering specialty. The combination of the two degree programs provides graduates with the ability to work at the interface between the two disciplines in research and development.

Subjects

  • Students enrolled in the double degree program may elect to transfer to a single degree course in one of the two disciplines. In this event the relevant Head of Department shall determine the amount of credit to be transferred to the single degree. The structure of Engineering, Science and Computing owned double degrees is such that students have the option of completing the component Engineering, Science or Computing degree in the minimum time, provided they elect to change from the double degree within the first two semesters of the course.

Recognition

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) has been accorded full recognition by Engineers Australia exempting graduates from all academic requirements for corporate membership. To qualify for corporate membership of Engineers Australia a graduate also requires a minimum of four years approved experience following the award of the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degree.

Credit reduces the amount of learning required to complete the course and may be granted for formal education qualifications, non-formal learning from non-award programs of study and informal learning through work experiences.
