Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical Engineering) (Honours), Bachelor of Science (Chemistry)

Curtin University

Type of institution: University/Higher Education Institution
Level: Undergraduate
CRICOS: 00301J

Chemical Engineers find the best sequence of physical, chemical and biological processing steps, and the right operating conditions, to convert raw materials into higher value products safely, economically and on a large scale. In the Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical Engineering), students examine the development, design, assessment and management of processes for the production of a wide range of materials. It covers the theory and applications of thermodynamics, fluid flow, heat transfer, mass transfer and reaction engineering. Building on this foundation, students go on to explore process control, synthesis and design, process economics, risk management and safety, and research studies for general chemical processes. Professional Chemists are essential to the operations of most manufacturing, processing, minerals and other industries. They use sophisticated instruments for the analysis of raw materials and finished products. The Bachelor of Science (Chemistry) provides students with a body of knowledge in chemistry and a range of skills necessary for a career in a modern analytical or industrial laboratory. The combination of the two degree programs provides graduates with enhanced abilities to work at the interface between the two disciplines in the research and development of new processes and the improvement of existing industrial operations.

Structure
