This research course develops a more critical and problem solving approach to the professional practice of chemistry than is possible to achieve in a first qualification. The course forms a basis for the professional development of experts able to cope with sophisticated research and development problems in industry. It is a requirement that two-thirds of this course is undertaken by research and only one-third by coursework. Students should not enrol in this research course to receive the Graduate Diploma in Chemistry but rather have undertaken it as a requisite for admission.
