To complete the Bachelor of Food and Nutrition Sciences/Bachelor of Commerce students must attain 32 credit points. Most units (think of units as 'subjects') are equal to 1 credit point. In order to gain 32 credit points you will need to study 32 units (AKA 'subjects') over your entire degree. Most students choose to study 4 units per trimester, and usually undertake two trimesters each year. The course comprises 32 credit points. 16 credit points are Nutrition Science units, and 16 credit points are Commerce units, which includes the completion of a prescribed Commerce major sequence from one of the following options: Accounting, Economics, Finance, Human Resource Management, Management, Management Information Systems and Marketing, which must include the following: ##16 credit points studied within the Faculty of Business and Law must include the 8 Bachelor of Commerce core units: MAA103, MAE101, MAF101, MLC101, MMK101, MMM132, MIS171 and MWL101. ##Completion of HSN010 Food and Nutrition Laboratory Safety prior to your first laboratory based unit in this course. All commencing Faculty of Health Undergraduate and Postgraduate course work students are required to complete HAI010 Academic Integrity in their first trimester of study (0 credit point compulsory unit).

Standard entry requirements
All applicants must meet the minimum English language requirements Please note that meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee selection, which is based on merit, likelihood of success and availability of places in the course. For more information on the Admission Criteria and Selection (Higher Education Courses) Policy visit the Deakin Policy Library Entry will be based on performance in: Senior Secondary Certificate of Education with ATAR of at least 50 or equivalent OR Certificate IV in a related discipline OR Diploma in any discipline or 50% completion of Diploma in a related discipline OR Successful completion of relevant study - equivalent to at least two Deakin University units - at an accredited higher education institution OR Evidence of academic capability judged to be equivalent, including Foundation program approved by Faculty Board, or relevant work or life experience Applicants should have successfully completed a Senior Secondary Certificate of Education, including Units 3 and 4, a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL.
This qualification allows you to receive recognition from both nutrition and business professional bodies. Enrolled students and graduates may apply for membership of the Nutrition Society of Australia (NSA). Graduates may apply for registration which will ensure you're recognised as a qualified nutrition professional in the field. Deakin's Bachelor of Commerce is internationally recognised and EPAS accredited by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). We are also the only Australian university with this accreditation, meaning you are graduating with a degree that is of a global standard.
