Good humanitarian action is intended to save lives, alleviate suffering and maintain human dignity before during and after disasters and conflict. This is informed by principles of Humanity; Impartiality; Neutrality and Independence. Effective humanitarianism involves quality preparedness and delivery of aid, working with affected communities and populations, their representatives and other stakeholders, to ensure their identified needs are met. Increasing complexity of humanitarian contexts requires an agile approach focussed on locally led action where possible and global engagement where required.
