You're perfect for our Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) degree if you're interested in the business world and the financial strategies and systems behind it. Whether you see yourself working for the government, a company or even your own business, this degree will teach you the ins and outs of the systems and financial strategies that make the business world tick. Chances are, you'll be offered work directly from your placement, like many of our graduates. You might end up as an accountant, stockbroker, a financial planner or a banker. With a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) you will study accounting, law and economics and finance as part of your commence degree and can choose from subjects like taxation law, auditing and financial planning to specialise your skills in accounting. When you graduate from our degree, you can then go on to gain professional accounting accreditation. Double majors and specialisations are available in Law, Business & Economics and Finance. This program may require participation in a range of WIL/work experience type activities and these will negotiated with students individually. The time component is variable.

Entry Requirements:

Admissions Criteria for current Year 12 students (2018) and recent secondary graduates (2016 and 2017) Prerequisites Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in any English. This course uses the ATAR as part of its selection considerations. Subject Adjustments A study score of 35 in Accounting, any Business, Economics, any Information Technology or any Mathematics equals 3 aggregate points per study. Overall maximum of 5 points. SEAS (Special Entry Access Scheme) Applicants who have experienced educational disadvantage are encouraged to apply for the Special entry access schemes (SEAS). Depending on eligibility and your circumstances, a SEAS application may provide support for your course application. Compulsory: Previous higher education studies with results at a pass level, including any 'single subjects of study', or successful completion of a tertiary preparatory program such as the FedUni Foundation Access Studies Program (FAST). Admission criteria for applications with a Vocational Education and Training study This course uses the applicants' entire academic record as part of its selection considerations. Compulsory: Successful completion of a relevant VET qualification at Certificate III level or higher. Admission criteria for applications with work and life experience This course uses the applicants' entire academic record as part of its selection considerations. Compulsory: Applicants who have not completed secondary education, or undertaken any TAFE or university studies should include a personal statement detailing all relevant experience to strengthen their application.

Structure:

The program consists of 10 core courses and 7 specified electives. The remaining 7 unspecified electives can be selected from other programs including 4 from other areas outside business. There is also the ability to complete a double major in Law or Economics and Finance.

Study Pathways:

Credit will be considered if students have successfully completed higher education or TAFE studies in a relevant area. They may continue study with a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours).

Completion of an accredited degree is the first step towards qualifying as a member of associations and becoming a CPA or Chartered Accountant.

CPA Australia; The Institute of Chartered Accountants. Students may also be eligible to apply for membership with: Australian Computing Society; Financial Services Institute of Australasia upon completion of nominated subjects in the Bachelor of Commerce.
