IT is an integral element of our lives, and continues to evolve and impact upon society and our futures. Our newly restructured IT degree gives you the flexibility to complete a stand-alone core along with an in-depth specialisation of your choice. You can enrol in electives from across the university, complementing your IT studies to tailor your own unique study plan. We support you to develop strong communication, academic and problem solving skills; critical attributes for success in the IT sector. You will learn programming skills to facilitate smooth communication with software developers, and explore web design, systems modelling and user experience. All provide you with the foundations to pursue your desired IT career, or to move on to a specialisation. Participation in our professional engagement course gives you the opportunity to network and enhance your knowledge of the IT industry. You will also build awareness of the latest research and developments, and explore the extent to which IT is embedded in areas as diverse as health, education, industry and more.

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 15 in any English; interstate or overseas equivalent; or mature age entry

Structure:

This program consists of 360 credit points. Students will complete 16 core courses, 4 computing electives or stream specialisation courses, and 4 general elective courses, and a zero credit point IT Professional Engagement course.

Study Pathways:

Credit will be considered if you have successfully completed higher education or TAFE studies relevant to this degree. Advanced standing will be determined on an individual basis, depending on your eligibility for credit transfer, prior experience and qualifications. Candidates seeking alternate entry to the Bachelor of Information Technology can consider the following options: Apply for a TAFE program, and then articulate into Bachelors program, For example: Diploma of Information Technology Diploma of Digital Media Technologies Foundation Access Studies (FAST) program - designed to provide you an alternate entry into tertiary study. Enrol in single units (courses): ITECH1000 Programming 1 and ITECH1004 Introduction to Multimedia. Re-apply with credit to the Bachelor of Information Technology for the next semester. Students can progress to the Bachelor of Science (Honours) as a prelude to a higher degree in research or a professional qualification.

Recognition:

This program is accredited to the Professional Level by the Australian Computer Society.
