Through studio based training you will become an active performing artist, ready and equipped to shape the future of Music Theatre, Opera, Cabaret and Performance in Australia and around the world. Each day at our renowned Ballarat Arts Academy is intensive and rigorous; throughout your journey you will work with Australia's leading artists, composers, choreographers, musicians, and directors. Imagine arriving early for class to be immersed in intense singing tutorials, dance classes, acting workshops, performance rehearsals, masterclasses and lectures. At the Arts Academy we challenge our students to ignite their unique and individual artistic voice. From Gilbert and Sullivan to Sondheim, from Phillip Glass to newly devised works, from political cabaret to flamboyant rock the Arts Academy is a hothouse of creativity and an incubator for new ideas. Training in Music Theatre prepares you not just for performance, but to be an active citizen of the world. Our graduates go on to perform in Theatre, Opera, Television, Film, but they also go on to do creative things in the most surprising of contexts in Australia and across the world.

Entry Requirements:

Satisfactory completion of VCE (or equivalent) Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in any English or Mature Age entry.

360 credit points

Subjects you can Study:

Acting, critical studies, dance, music theatre history, music theory, screen acting, singing and voice.

Study Pathways:

Credit will be considered if students have successfully completed higher education or TAFE studies in a relevant area. Advanced standing will be determined on an individual basis, depending on eligibility for credit transfer, prior experience and qualifications.

Recognition:

This program is nationally recognised within the Performing Arts Industry.
