Learn how to manage people and develop organisations to work together for the benefit of both. You’ll study areas like equal employment opportunity, employment safety and labour relations. We’ll also help you to develop confidence, negotiating, and communication skills, and the legal foundations important in business. Once you graduate, you can work across recruitment, staff training and workplace development in start-ups, global companies, government departments or consult.


The program consists of 10 core courses, 7 electives and 7 specific electives to complete the major. The other 7 electives can be taken from other programs with a maximum of 4 to be taken from disciplines outside business. A double major Marketing or Management is available.

Standard entry requirements

  • Prerequisites Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in any English
  • ATAR. This course uses the ATAR as part of its selection considerations. Subject Adjustments: A study score of 35 in any Business, Economics or any Information Technology equals 3 aggregate points per study. Overall maximum of 5 points. SEAS (Special Entry Access Scheme): Applicants who have experienced educational disadvantage are encouraged to apply for the Special entry access schemes (SEAS). Depending on eligibility and your circumstances, a SEAS application may provide support for your course application. Compulsory: Successful completion of a relevant VET qualification at Certificate III level or higher. Admission criteria for applications with work and life experience. Compulsory: Applicants who have not completed secondary education, or undertaken any TAFE or university studies should include a personal statement detailing all relevant experience to strengthen their application.

Study pathways

Credit will be considered if students have successfully completed higher education or TAFE studies in a relevant area. Advanced standing will be determined on an individual basis, depending on eligibility for credit transfer, prior experience and qualifications.

Work Integrated Learning is a mandatory component of the program and can be undertaken in many formats including internships and placements. Students may apply for the Industry Placement Program (IPP), which offers up to 26 weeks of industry based experience. IPP students receive a scholarship payment of up to $15,000.
