This course focuses on preparing students demonstrating high levels of academic achievement for leadership careers in their chosen field. The course incorporates a range of specific educational activities in leadership studies, preparation for participation in the workforce, active involvement in students and academic research seminars, and requires a work placement and industry placement component. Working closely with fellow students and academic staff, the Advanced Leadership degree will develop networking skills, promote an advanced understanding of the modern workplace, and provide students with opportunities to pursue extended studies in business leadership, research and management.

Structure

The course includes core business topics in areas such as accounting, law, economics, marketing, human resource management, quantitative methods, management and international business. If a specialisation is selected, these topics provide in-depth skills and knowledge in the chosen specialisation. Students also study extension topics as part of their Advanced Leadership component including a compulsory work placement and industry project. Students are then able to study additional topics from their chosen specialisation or other Business School specialisations and if desired, topics from across the University to tailor their course to their interests and career goals (except Human Resource Management specialisation). In the final year, students also study Strategic Management and Leadership as a capstone topic. Students are encouraged to include industry projects and international experiences in their course.
