Bachelor of Commerce - Advanced Leadership

This degree is an advanced version of the Bachelor of Commerce and is available for all specialisations. The degree focusses on preparing students demonstrating high levels of academic achievement for leadership careers in their chosen field. The course incorporates a range of specific educational activities in leadership studies, preparation for participation in the workforce, active involvement in students and academic research seminars, and requires a work placement component and industry placement. Working closely with fellow students and academic staff, the Advanced Leadership degree will develop networking skills, promote an advanced understanding of the modern workplace, and provide students with opportunities to pursue extended studies in business leadership, research and commerce.

Entry Requirements:

Year 12 or equivalent; or adult entry (STAT); or TAFE/VET qualifications; or higher education transfers; or completion of a foundation studies program

Structure:

The first year includes the core topics of Accounting Principles, Information Systems, Quantitative Methods, Law for Business, Economics for Business, and Management, People and Organisations. In all years students complete a specialisation in their chosen area, and throughout the degree students are involved in seminars, projects and conferences which enhance leadership and communication skills. The final year includes capstone topics in Leadership as well as Governance, Sustainability and Ethics.

Further information:

Students also have the option of combining this degree with one of the following Bachelor degrees, provided they meet the entry requirements for both: Business - Advanced Leadership, Laws and Legal Practice and Laws and Legal Practice (Honours).

Recognition:

Students who complete the Bachelor of Commerce (Advanced Leadership and Accounting) or the Bachelor of Commerce (Advanced Leadership and Accounting/Finance) will meet the needs and the admission requirements of professional bodies such as the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA), CPA Australia and the Institute of Public Accountants.
