The Bachelor of Information Technology (Simulation and Serious Games) provides students with core skills to deploy solutions for real world application. Students will work with a range of software, hardware and interaction technologies to produce engaging, interactive experiences simulating various scenarios. Simulation and serious games equips students with the skills to design, develop, and measure complex interactive systems for training and education situations. The process required to deploy such an application requires an understanding of core computing and mathematical knowledge as well as an appreciation of human factors and interactions in such systems. Having an understanding of the role of engaging, interactive storytelling in such contexts provides an experience that aids in learning and successful outcomes.

Entry Requirements:

Year 12 or equivalent qualifications; or mature age entry (STAT); or TAFE/VET qualifications; or higher education transfers; or results from the completion of a foundation studies program.

Structure:

In addition to fundamental computing and information and communications technology topics, students will undertake computer programming, Simulation and Serious Game Design, Database Modelling and Knowledge Engineering, Networks and Cyber-security, Web-Based Systems Development, Interactive Computer Systems, Computer Game Development and a range of other option topics. This course also has an option of an honours year.

Study Pathways:

Admission to an honours program may be offered to a student who meets certain academic criteria and subject to the College being able to provide appropriate resources and staff to supervise the program of study.

Recognition:

This degree is accredited by the Australian Computer Society at the professional level. Courses accredited at this level by the Australian Computer Society are recognised internationally under the Seoul Accord.
