Nursing encompasses autonomous and collaborative care of individuals of all ages, families, groups and communities, sick or well and in all settings. Modern nurses play an important role in health promotion, maintenance and education, as well as in traditional patient care and the restoration of health. The course aims to prepare students to become nurses who have a clear understanding of the professional requirements of nursing, are reflective about their practice and have well-developed clinical reasoning skills.

Entry Requirements:

Year 12 or equivalent qualifications; or mature age entry (STAT); or TAFE/VET qualifications; or higher education transfers; or completion of a foundation studies program


The course is highly structured and combines professional experience placement with topics addressing ethics, law, psychosocial health, mental health, Indigenous health, evidence-based practice and the biophysical sciences. Professional experience placements are undertaken for the duration of the degree in agencies and hospitals throughout metropolitan and rural South Australia.

Australian enrolled nurses who hold a Diploma of Nursing qualification or equivalent may be eligible for a maximum of 36 units of credit.

Students also have the option of combining this degree with the following Bachelors degree, providing they meet the entry requirements for both: Letters (Health) (Ageing), Letters (Health) (Disability), Letters (Health) (Health Education/Promotion) and Letters (Health) (Nutrition).
