This course prepares students for the growing and dynamic area of computer science and digital media including animation, computer games, computer graphics and information visualisation. Students will be prepared for roles as a professional developer or computer scientist and will be able to use professional skills and knowledge in a range of organisations such as advertising agencies, information and communications technology industry, radio and TV stations, independent film, TV, video and sound production companies, software companies producing creative material including games software, publishing companies, educational institutions, government departments and agencies, large organisations with in house production, independent contracting and consulting, private sector organisations, telecommunications and internet service providers.

Structure

The course includes a strong foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of computer science and digital media production, including the use of advanced tools in the area. Students also take topics in screen studies and creative arts, culminating in a major digital media technical project or practicum in their final semester. Throughout the degree students study a range of areas which can include multimedia, professional skills, digital media, web-based systems, virtual reality, software engineering, graphic design, programming, 3D effects, game development and 3D animation.
