This graduate diploma is the only of its kind in South Australia and has the support of the fishing industry through the South Australian Fishing Industry Council. It aims to provide students with advanced theoretical and technical knowledge in aquaculture and specialised skills in global aquaculture farming and practice.

Structure

  • This is a 36 unit program where students complete six core (compulsory) topics and two option topics chosen from a range of option topics available. These topics aim to provide students the opportunity to gain advanced theoretical and technical knowledge and apply their knowledge to understand aquaculture operations
  • numeracy and statistics relevant to aquaculture and for independent thinking and complex problem solving. Using specialised aquaculture facilities on campus students will be able to apply key knowledge in nutrition, water quality, reproduction, product quality and health issues.

Standard entry requirements

  • Applicants must normally hold an approved bachelor degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline of science other than in Aquaculture
  • Or hold the Graduate Certificate in Science (Aquaculture) from Flinders University or equivalent qualification.Applicants who have completed the Bachelor of Science (Aquaculture) or Bachelor of Science (Aquaculture) (Honours) from Flinders University or equivalent qualification are not eligible to apply for this graduate diploma.
