The Graduate Certificate in Gender Mainstreaming Policy and Analysis is only available on a part-time basis. This course will develop specialised knowledge related to the integration of gender considerations into policy making, project design and implementation, monitoring and evaluation. Gender mainstreaming is an international strategy to achieve gender equality in all aspects of society and has been gradually adopted by many international agencies, governments and non-government organisations in so called 'developing' and 'developed' countries. Gender analysis is a foundational base for all economic and social development policy and development programs. The specialised skills the course offers are applicable both in Australia and internationally. The course articulates with the 72 unit Master of Arts (Women’s and Gender Studies) and the sequentially developed topics enable progression through the two awards.

Structure

Students complete two core (compulsory) topics and two elective topics chosen from a range of elective topics available. These topics aim to provide students with the opportunity to focus on a specific policy area (such as public health, education, economic management, or human resources) or for students to employ this knowledge in their own workplace through an action research topic.
