The Graduate Certificate in Midwifery aims to provide registered midwives with the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and skills in midwifery and prepare them for an expanded practice role in an innovative program of study.

Australian: $10,620

Entry Requirements:

Applicants must normally (1) hold a midwifery degree or equivalent qualification, and (2) be a registered midwife, and (3) hold a current midwifery practising certificate.


The graduate certificate is an 18 unit program. Students complete two core (compulsory) topics aimed at providing students the opportunity to demonstrate their evidence-based knowledge in midwifery, to examine contemporary midwifery care and demonstrate their knowledge and skills required for an extended midwifery role.

Study Pathways:

This graduate certificate articulates with the Graduate Diploma and Master of Midwifery.

Further information:

This course will not lead to registration as a midwife.


Graduates will be able to apply to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) for endorsement in prescribing medications in midwifery. This course is part of the suite of requirements for the Eligible Midwife.
