This degree provides the foundations that will underpin ongoing professional development, preparing students for further study or for a career in a computing related field or in other areas where the range of skills and knowledge acquired is needed or desirable. It allows students to focus their studies in areas such as programming, e- Business, intelligent systems, interactive computer systems, game development and database systems.
Structure
- Students complete sixteen core (compulsory) topics. These topics aim to provide students with the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in: the development of complex information systems
- communicating with other computer scientists
- developing computer-based solutions and engaging in research.

Standard entry requirements
- Applicants must normally hold a bachelor degree or equivalent qualification
- Or hold the Graduate Diploma in Information Technology from Flinders University or equivalent qualification.
Recognition
Graduates will be eligible for professional level membership with the Australian Computer Society. Courses accredited at this level by the Australian Computer Society are recognised internationally under the Seoul Accord.
Study pathways
The University may, under certain circumstances and subject to specific conditions, consider applicants who do not hold a bachelor degree or equivalent but can demonstrate relevant higher education study with relevant work experience, or relevant work experience which may meet the requirements for entry into the course.
