The Diploma is primarily designed to provide a comprehensive foundation for entry into the second year of a number of Griffith University degree level studies in health, although graduates will also exit the Diploma with the knowledge and skills for beginner level employment in health-science related industries. The Diploma provides an interdisciplinary approach to the field of health science. It focuses on the biological and biochemical aspects of health science and provides a firm grounding in chemistry, cell biology, and anatomy. Relevant to the workplace; skills will be developed and assessed in chemistry, biology and laboratory procedures, as well as written and oral communication. The burgeoning health and bioscience industries provide opportunities for degree graduates across a range of health areas depending on the degree, for example, the application of new scientific knowledge to the practice of medicine, postgraduate specialist studies, or work as a medical laboratory specialist.
