Diploma of Maritime Operations - Engineer Watchkeeper

This qualification is part of the Maritime Training Package. It is suitable for people who work in the maritime industry as an Engineer Watchkeeper on a seagoing ship powered by main propulsion machinery of any propulsion power in any operating area.

Entry Requirements:

No minimum education


22 units: 18 core; 4 elective

Subjects you can Study:

Core: Communicate effectively when performing engineering duties; Follow vessel security procedures; Prevent and fight fires on board a vessel; Work safely in confined spaces on a vessel; Apply maritime resource management principles; Provide leadership to crew; Apply basic principles of naval architecture; Demonstrate basic knowledge of marine auxiliary boilers; plus more. Electives: Demonstrate basic knowledge of marine diesel engines and systems; Demonstrate basic knowledge of marine steam turbines and main boilers; Maintain and repair marine electrical and electronic equipment; Contribute to safe cargo operations on liquefied gas tankers; Employ tools, equipment and materials in a shipboard context; plus more.
