The Master of Psychology (Clinical) is designed to prepare students for professional practice as a clinical psychologist. The program is accredited by APAC.Students who graduate from this course will be eligible for general registration as a psychologist with AHPRA and commence a registrar program towards endorsement as a clinical psychologist. The course consists of course work, practical placement, and research components. Course work in the first year of the program will provide students with the ground work and clinical skills needed to commence an internal placement at ISN Clinic. The second year of the program has a strong focus on integration of clinical skills through external placements and advanced course units. Students will complete a research thesis as part of the program in a clinically significant area of research.

Structure

• The Master of Psychology (Clinical) program consists of two years full-time, or the part-time equivalent study.• Part-time places are limited and may not be available each academic year.• The course structure is based on four full-time semesters (each of 12 weeks’ duration).• The degree comprises of 18 core units of which three will focus on the completion of a major research project/thesis and four units prepare students for work as a clinicalpsychologist through internal and external placements.

Standard entry requirements

The minimum requirement for entry to the APAC accredited Master of Psychology (Clinical) course is based on academic achievement in an APAC accredited four-year sequence of study in psychology with greatest weighting given to the 4th year (Honours or Graduate Diploma). Students must have completed an APAC accredited 4th year of study and be eligible to register as a provisional psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) to be considered for entry.
