Standard entry requirements

Only available to international students. Evidence of English proficiency is necessary for students wishing to undertake further studies at Swinburne after their English language course. Students who do not have evidence of English proficiency can opt to sit an English Placement Test, either at Swinburne or online at any Swinburne Representative office. English placement test: Our English Placement Test (EPT) is ideal for students do not have an IELTS or other approved international test score. Students need to complete an English placement test as part of the application to study at Swinburne. The test is free-of-charge on Tuesday morning (10.30am) or Thursday afternoon (2.30pm) at Hawthorn campus or online at any Swinburne representative office. However you must request a booking through Admissions at least 3 days prior to the test. You will then be sent confirmation of the test date and time. The test measures all skills and will take approximately 1 hour to complete. Based on the results, Swinburne will recommend the number of weeks students need to complete to enter into their chosen course. Swinburne reserves the right to conduct a placement test on arrival (or in the first week of your study) to assess all students' level of English. This may affect the duration of the English course depending on the results. This may, in turn, affect timely entry into future courses.
