Australian South Sea Islander Community Foundation Scholarship

The purpose of the ASSICF is to improve the educational opportunities available to Australian South Sea Islanders by providing funds to participating universities to make available scholarships for tertiary education. Australian South Sea Islanders are direct descendants of the South Sea Islanders who were brought into Queensland between 1863 and 1904 and worked as indentured labourers. This scholarship is provided by the Australian South Sea Islander Community Foundation (ASSICF), a sub fund of the Queensland Community Foundation (QCF), in partnership with JCU.

Eligibility

Applicants must: be Australian citizens; be descendants of the South Sea Islanders who were brought into Queensland between 1863 and 1904 and worked as indentured labourers; be a member of the Australian South Sea Islander community; be enrolling or enrolled in an undergraduate degree; and not be in receipt of another scholarship in the year of the award.

Amount $5,000

The scholarship is valued at $5,000 for 1 year, to be paid after the census date of Study Period 2.
