Joyce and George Vaughan Bequest Scholarship

The scholarship was established in 2006 with monies bequeathed from the estate of Verna Joyce Vaughan. The purpose of the scholarship is to assist Marine Biology research students, in particular Aborigines from Thursday Island or the Torres Strait Islands of Queensland.

Eligibility

Applicants must: be Australian or New Zealand citizens, or permanent residents; be currently enrolled in a Master or Doctorate in (Research) in the area of Marine Biology. Preference will be given to Aborigines from Thursday Island or the Torres Strait Islands.

Amount $8,000

The scholarship is valued at $16,000, paid in 2 equal instalments of $8,000 for 2 years.
