Thelma Myers Memorial Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nursing & Midwifery Scholarship

James Cook University (JCU)

Established in 2003 by Ms Carolyn Dixon in memory of her mother Thelma Myers, the purpose of the scholarship is to encourage and facilitate Australian indigenous nurses to continue their studies at a postgraduate level. The donor hopes that the availability of the scholarship will be seen as part of a reconciliation process.

Eligibility

Applicants must: be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent; be a registered nurse; and have been accepted for postgraduate studies or a higher degree in research within the College of Healthcare Sciences in the discipline of nursing at James Cook University. Selection is based on academic merit.

Amount $5,000

The scholarship is valued at $5,000 per year for 1 years.
