JSW Training & Community Services

This qualification is part of the Agriculture, Horticulture and Conservation and Land Management Training Package. It provides general skills and knowledge in amenity horticulture.

Entry Requirements:

No minimum education. Prerequsite units may apply to some electives.


16 units: 5 core; 11 elective

Subjects you can Study:

Core: Contribute to work health and safety processes; Provide information on plants and their culture; Control weeds; Control plant pests, diseases and disorders; Implement soil improvements for garden and turf areas. Electives: Implement a tree maintenance program; Perform pruning operations; Install cable and bracing; Identify and report unusual disease or plant pest signs; Monitor and review biosecurity measures; Measure irrigation delivery system performance; Construct landscape features using concrete; Receive and dispatch nursery products; Report on health and condition of trees; plus more.

Established in 1985, JSW Training & Community Services is a Registered Training Organisation. They have a defined scope of registration and are able to issue a range of qualifications in Business, Retail, Hospitality, Community Services and Horticulture. As well as providing training and assessment for entire qualifications JSW Training & Community Services deliver short courses, workshops, seminars and classes. All training is delivered by qualified trainers and some short courses qualify for accreditation towards a full certificate.Training can be delivered at individual workplaces or from a JSW Training & Community Services Centre. Non-accredited courses do not carry national recognition and there is not formal assessment requirements. It offers training, employment and career counselling services to people in the South West of WA. The provider offers accredited qualifications in a range of courses and works with schools in the South West region to provide transition support.
