Structure

To attain the Bachelor of Accounting, students will be required to complete 360 credit points in total consisting of: 225 credit points core subjects, 15 credit points core choice subjects and 120 credit points - Optional Major/Minor(s)/Elective(s).

Standard entry requirements

  • Recent secondary education - VTAC prerequisite: Year 12 English prerequisite (20) - Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.
  • Recent secondary education - UAC prerequisite: Year 12 subject prerequisite - One of English Standard, English Advanced (Band 2), English as an Additional Language or Dialect (Band 3).
  • Non Year 12 - Vocational Education & Training: VET prerequisites - Course specific requirements - Subject proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.
  • Non Year 12 - Higher Education study: HE prerequisites - Course specific requirements - Subject proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.
  • International: IELTS - (6.0 < 6.0) (UG standard/minimum) - 6.0 IELTS (Academic) with no individual band less than 6.0.

Recognition

The Bachelor of Accounting is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). All graduates of the Bachelor of Accounting are eligible to apply for membership with CIMA. The on-campus offerings of the Bachelor of Accounting are also accredited by CPA Australia and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ). Graduates of the on-campus offerings of the Bachelor of Accounting are also eligible to apply for membership with CPA Australia and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ). The new online offering of the Bachelor of Accounting is currently awaiting accreditation approval by CPA Australia and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ). As a CPA/CAANZ accreditation requirement, students admitted into the online offering of the Bachelor of Accounting must complete in person examinations for some subjects at one of the following La Trobe University campuses: Bendigo, Albury/Wodonga, Shepparton, Mildura or Bundoora. These in person examinations will typically be scheduled during the Universitys final examination period for each semester or term of study. Professional membership may require an application to the professional body and may have additional or ongoing requirements beyond the completion of the degree.
