This new double degree aims to develop graduates to work in a business, community, commerce or government setting where skills of critical analysis, problem solving and communication highly valued, alongside a solid grounding in business disciplines. Students will combine understandings of accounting, economics, finance, management and marketing, with their well-developed humanities research and communication skills. Students will have the opportunity to work alongside business professionals. Students will learn about new technology and innovative sustainability practices. Students will graduate with highly sought after skill sets, and will complete an Arts Major and will also have the flexibility to choose from a range of Business subjects. Students will choose from Majors in English, History or Sociology at all regional campuses, in addition to Human Geography and Indonesian Language and Culture at the Bendigo campus.

Structure

In first year semester 1 students will study their core business subjects. In semester 2 students will split their study between two core subjects, before picking from an Arts elective and a subject related to their Arts Major. In second year students will split their first semester between two core business subjects, an arts elective and another subject related to their Arts major. In semester two they will study another arts major subject, alongside three more business core subjects. In third year students are given more freedom to select their subjects, picking electives from respectively the business, Arts and Humanities and Social Sciences for both semesters 1 and 2. While in fourth year students study subjects related to their arts majors, several business subjects and undertake a work placement programme in semester 2.

Standard entry requirements

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL. NB: Meeting minimum prerequisites does not guarantee an offer of a place. Entry into all La Trobe courses is based on competitive selection and there may be limited places available.
