Completing Honours gives you the opportunity to pursue studies that combine coursework and research in a specialised area of knowledge. The advanced analytical, research and communications skills you'll gain are highly sought after by employers, giving you the edge in an increasingly competitive job market. Honours includes a research component and a series of research seminars. The research component includes a self-directed thesis on a topic approved by the Honours Coordinator. Ten compulsory research seminars are conducted across the year and students are required to present a paper on their individual research project, developing essential employability skills in oral and written communication. The qualification awarded on graduation is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 8 - Bachelor Degree Honours.

Structure

To qualify for the award of Bachelor of Criminology (Honours), students must complete a total of 120 credit points consisting of 60 credit points thesis and 60 credit points coursework: 60 thesis credit points 30 core credit points 30 core-choice credit points

Standard entry requirements

  • Non Year 12 - Higher Education study: HE prerequisites - Course specific requirements - Australian Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant study area
  • Non Year 12 - Higher Education study: HE prerequisites - Course specific requirements - WAM - Weighted Average Mark (WAM) 70%
  • International: IELTS - 6.5 < 6.0 (PG minimum) - 6.5 IELTS (Academic) with no individual band less than 6.0.
