Build on your successes in the Bachelor of Human Nutrition by completing Honours to enhance essential employability skills or take your first step to a career in research, academia and beyond. You'll gain a deeper understanding of research theory, design and practice principles introduced in your undergraduate degree. To apply your knowledge and research skills, you'll complete a systematic review of scientific papers in nutrition and undertake an original research project under the supervision of expert staff from La Trobe's Department of Rehabilitation, Nutrition and Sport to produce evidence-based solutions. By graduating with Honours, you'll not only gain an edge in an increasingly competitive job market, you'll also have the opportunity to advance to further coursework or research at Master's level or, for high achievers, direct entry into a PhD.

Structure

To qualify for the award of Bachelor of Nutrition with Honours, students must complete 120 credit points consisting of: 120 core credit points

Standard entry requirements

  • Non Year 12 - Higher Education study: HE prerequisites - Course specific requirements - To qualify for admission to the Honours program, students must have successfully achieved the requirements for the degree, by completing the Bachelor of Human Nutrition or Bachelor of Nutrition Science or Bachelor of Food and Nutrition, or by having demonstrated academic excellence in nutrition-and research-related subjects. Students must obtain a minimum average of 70% across the third-year subjects in any of the aforementioned courses, or at least 70% in nutrition-and research-related subjects.
