Make a difference in the lives of people with a disability The disability services landscape is changing. New reforms, techniques and technologies are transforming the sector and creating great opportunities for those with an interest in leading disability care and practice. La Trobe's Graduate Certificate in Disability Practice puts you at the forefront of contemporary disability practice and reform. You'll learn how to support people with disabilities, how to advocate for greater inclusion and how to promote greater opportunities for individuals with a disability to participate in society. You'll examine current disability policies and learn how to tackle disadvantage through system-level change. This flexible, fully-online course is designed by leading researchers from our Living with Disability Research Centre. You'll gain the skills to re-enter the workforce with a new career direction or build on prior professional experience in disability services.

To qualify for the award of Graduate Certificate in Disability Practice, students must complete a total of 60 credit points across 1 year.

Standard entry requirements

Successful completion of an Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent). Advanced Diploma in a disability-related field, with at least 2 years of relevant work experience. Non-cognate or non-Bachelor qualified students will be assessed on a case by case basis. In making an offer to an applicant, the University will give consideration to a range of factors to determine whether an applicant has demonstrated the capacity to work at a postgraduate level, including academic record, English proficiency, and/or employment experience.
