Students must complete 16 compulsory subjects totalling 240 credit points. Students from a cognate background are eligible to apply for Advanced Standing.

Standard entry requirements

  • An Australian Bachelor's degree in any discipline or an approved equivalent qualification. Admission may be granted to applicants without an undergraduate degree but with five or more years of relevant work experience
  • In making an offer to an applicant, the university may give consideration to a range of factors including English proficiency, academic record and employment experience
  • International students must meet academic and English language requirements
  • NB: Meeting minimum prerequisites does not guarantee an offer of a place. Entry into all La Trobe courses is based on competitive selection and there may be limited places available.

The Master of Accounting and Financial Management is accredited by CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ), and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). Students are required to complete specific subjects in order to graduate with the accredited qualification, please refer to the Handbook for further details. Professional registration may require an application to the professional body and may have additional or ongoing requirements beyond the completion of the degree. Graduates of the Master of Accounting and Financial Management may also apply for membership with the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
