This program provides a joint qualification in Commerce and Psychology. It lets students gain a comprehensive understanding of Commerce and business functions, strategy and skills whilst equipping them with a wide range of fundamental psychological concepts which will help them understand how people think, act and feel. The program component is a flexible degree which allows students the choice to complete a major from a variety of commerce/business disciplines. The arts-psychology component combines a core study of psychology with a broad range of elective units. The accredited sequence opens the opportunity to further study in psychology.

Standard entry requirements

  • Year 12 or equivalent
  • Assumed knowledge: HSC General Mathematics (or international equivalent). Recommended studies: HSC Mathematics (or international equivalent). Introductory units and bridging courses are available for students without the assumed and/or recommended prior knowledge.

Recognition

Students who complete a major in marketing will receive accreditation with the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI). Students who complete a Human Resources major will receive accreditation with the Australian Institute of Human Resources (AHRI). Accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC).

Study pathways

Eligible students may meet the requirements for transfer to the Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) with the degree of Bachelor of Commerce program subject to meeting transfer criteria. Continuation with the honours year is subject to meeting honours admission requirements. Should a student not meet the requirements, they will graduate with a Bachelor of Commerce with the degree of Bachelor of Arts - Psychology. Admission to the honours years will require a weighted average SNG (Standard Numerical Grade) of 70 over all Psychology units and a weighted average SNG of 75 over all 300 level Psychology units and a minimum of 72 credit points. Applicants to the fourth year honours program who do not meet these requirements may also be considered on an individual basis.
