This program provides students with an opportunity to undertake advanced study in early childhood, to enhance their professional knowledge and extend their knowledge of related areas in early childhood. They will learn about current research and engage critically in theoretical and policy debates of importance to early childhood educators. Students can focus on a particular area of specialisation to match their interests, abilities and career goals.

Entry Requirements:

Australian level 7 bachelor's qualification or recognised equivalent in early childhood or a related discipline such as education, nursing, social work or psychology; academic practicum or relevant work experience


48 credit points at 800 level or above; minimum 36 credit points at 800 level or above from units with an ECED prefix.

This degree does not provide a teaching qualification in early childhood. This degree is also offered at the postgraduate certificate and postgraduate diploma levels; these will have the same but fewer units than this degree and can be used as starting points for the Masters degree. Appropriate performance in these programs may be counted for credit towards this degree. This course is available for internal and external study.
