This program allows students to acquire a university qualification demonstrating mastery of surgical competence to support their career goals and life-long learning skills. It is designed as a combination of units with three broad characteristics: hands-on surgical skills with rigorously assessed competencies; practice of surgery in a framework of ethics, education and research; and enhancement of leadership capabilities. Through a comprehensive approach to developing surgical expertise, and with the highly developed technical input from the academic surgeons, the program provides a unique opportunity for surgeons to further develop their competence, knowledge and understanding as professionals, leaders and scholars in the area of surgery.

  • Full registration as a medical practitioner in jurisdiction of residence or citizenship

  • Eligibility for medical registration in Australia (if studying in Australia)
  • Two years of clinical experience with demonstrated commitment to a career in surgery
