This qualification is part of the Electrotechnology Training Package. It is for people who want to become computer assembly and repair trade workers and includes the necessary competencies for persons to select and assemble computer to customers specifications and carry out routine hardware repairs (generally by replacement) of known faulty components, following prescribed routines.

  • Assemble, enter and verify operating instructions in microprocessor equipped devices
  • Repairs basic electronic apparatus faults by replacement of components
  • Build and maintain a secure network

  • Install and configure a client computer operating system and software
  • Apply Occupational Health and Safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace
  • Document and apply measures to control OHS risks associated with electrotechnology work
  • Fabricate, assemble and dismantle utilities industry components

  • Assemble, set-up and test computing devices
  • Source and purchase material/parts for installation or service jobs
  • Set up and configure basic local area network (LAN)
  • Apply environmentally and sustainable procedures in the energy sector
