    Bachelor of Computer Science

April was one of our passionate Bachelor of Computer Science students — and inaugural President of the Monash Association of Coding (MAC).

Ingenious and proactive, April created a community for people to pursue their love of coding and drive their professional growth.

'I'm not originally from a computer science background. In fact, I initially completed a neuroscience major with coding electives.

‘I chose the Bachelor of Computer Science because it was a pathway into a field where I could constantly learn, be challenged and build on ideas.

‘The goal of founding MAC was to create a place for people to code and collaborate, which is the most effective way to learn.

As President of MAC, I wanted to prove that anyone is good enough to code — and you can always start learning by helping others.'

    Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours)

Caleb is a software developer at Atlassian, Australia's biggest technology company. There, he's making a big impact on products like Jira, which is used by thousands of businesses.

At Monash, Caleb was part of Wired Monash and the diversIT committee. His involvement saw him drive important student initiatives, such as hosting industry nights and supporting underrepresented groups in IT.

'I'm grateful for my time at Monash, which was immensely valuable and allowed me to get involved in so much!

IBL connected me with an amazing team within ANZ, where I worked for almost nine months. I became a React expert, a popular Javascript library for building user interfaces. I also gained valuable experience in data analysis and processing, and honed my leadership skills as a main frontend developer.

I came out of IBL significantly more capable, which gave me a head start in my career.

    Master of Data Science

After completing her Bachelor of Computer Engineering in India, Aishwarya headed to Australia to do her Master of Data Science. She was attracted by the wonderful climate and high standard of living, but most importantly she knew that Monash IT offered a fantastic curriculum with first-rate academics.

‘Monash has given me great networking opportunities. As a Peer Assisted Study Sessions Leader, I coached students through difficult units and, as a Peer Mentor and Super Mentor, I helped first-year undergraduates settle into uni. One thing led to another and I'm now a Student Engagement Administrative Officer for the faculty.

‘If you come to Monash, explore everything that the university and Melbourne have to offer. From the dazzling city to nearby beaches and mountains, and from student clubs to volunteering opportunities. Make the most of your time here. What you do at university will not only build your resume, but your character!’
