The Bachelor of Health Sciences will provide students with a sound foundation in health science and a broad overview of health care. They will also gain skills in identifying, investigating, analysing and assessing health issues. Students will have the opportunity to tailor their degree to pursue a variety of career paths in the health sciences. The course is suited to those who wish to have flexibility in determining which area of the health sciences they wish to progress. The common thread is the commitment to an evidence-based approach to delivering quality health care efficiently and effectively. Students will apply scientific approaches to the study and improvement of health, considering physiological, behavioural, developmental, social and environmental aspects of human health and disease.

Entry Requirements:

Year 12 or equivalent; Units 3 & 4 - a study score of at least 30 in English (ESL) or 25 in any other English;


The course develops through themes: Part A. Personal and professional development; Part B. Population, communities, health and illness; Part C. Scientific basis of healthcare practice; Part D. Free elective study.

Subjects you can Study:

Anatomy, Physiology, Public health, Epidemiology, Human lifespan, Disease pathology & forensic medicine, Australian healthcare system. Electives: Biological sciences (Chemistry, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Psychology) Social work, Public health & clinical research, Physics.

Study Pathways:

ll applicants must satisfy the equivalence of the VCE subject prerequisites. University: Two single units at an Australian higher education institution satisfy minimum entry requirements if the student has not undertaken a formal program of study at or above VCE Yr 12 (or equivalent). Applicants should have at least a minimum 60% average in their studies. Students with a complete or partially complete Bachelor qualification will be considered for entry. TAFE/VET: Graded AQF Diplomas will be considered for entry into this course. Admission will be based on academic merit and applicants should have at least a minimum 60% average. Ungraded (competent/not competent) diplomas will not be considered. Qualifications below diploma level will not meet the entry requirements (e.g. Cert IV).
