This course offers hands on clinical experience in both rural and metropolitan hospitals in Victoria. Nursing provides valued service to communities in the provision of health care and promotion of health and wellbeing. Graduates have job opportunities in a diverse range of employment settings.

Entry Requirements:

Year 12 or equivalent; Units 1 and 2: satisfactory completion in two units (any study combination) of General Mathematics or Maths: Mathematical Methods or Units 3 and 4: any Mathematics); Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or 25 in any other English;


Clinical nursing experience will be undertaken in years 1-3, which comprises approximately 50% of the course and requires placement in a variety of health care settings. Travel to clinical placements will be required.

Study Pathways:

Graded AQF Diplomas will be considered for entry into this course. Admission will be based on academic merit and applicants should have at least a minimum average of 60%. Preference will be given to students whose prior studies are related to the course in which they are seeking admission (Certificate IV in Health (Nursing) or a Diploma of Nursing). Ungraded (competent/not competent) diplomas will not be considered.

Students undertaking a Faculty Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences course with clinical or fieldwork placements must demonstrate compliance with police, working with children checks and immunisation requirements. Drug Administration Policy Students should be aware of their legal responsibilities regarding the administration and storage of drugs in keeping with the Drugs Poisons and Controlled Substances Act 1981 (Vic) and the Drugs Poisons and Controlled Substances Regulations 2006 (Vic).
