This course will establish an understanding of the processes involved in developing a basic science finding through to clinical trials. The course modules offer the basic foundations of discipline-specific laboratory research questions and how these can be applied to broader clinical applications. The main focus of the Graduate Certificate in Translational Research is for the student to establish an appreciation that fundamental scientific questions may have multidisciplinary clinical answers. Other core learning outcomes are through understanding how scientific concepts can be marketed and communicated effectively through research pipeline procedures and the responsibilities of the researcher that may be derived from this.

Entry Requirements:

Applicants must have completed a bachelor degree in a Health Science/Basic Science discipline; or other degree with industry experience in Research and Development (e.g. CSIRO, CSL, Biopharmaceutical Industry or in Clinical Trials) that the faculty considers to be equivalent to or a satisfactory substitute for the above


The course consists of four core units that will advance theoretical and/or practical knowledge in bioethics, biostatistics, clinical trials and translational research.
