The Master of Advanced Finance is for recent graduates or professionals already working in the finance industry. The course provides an opportunity to study the latest theories, practices and models that will shape the future of the sector.As part of this degree, you will gain advanced insight into global financial markets, funds management, financial planning, money market dealing and business forecasting. Your studies will also have an ethics, environmental and corporate social responsibility focus.The degree offers practical ways to apply your knowledge through the trading simulation programs run at Monash STARLab. You can also choose to undertake a research pathway, which can act as a pathway to a PhD.The Master of Advanced Finance is recognised by the CFA Institute, the global association for investment professionals that awards the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) designation. This means the program covers a minimum of 70 percent of all three topic levels of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge, thus assisting students in preparing for the CFA exams.

Structure

The course comprises 96 points structured into two parts: Part A Mastery knowledge (48 points), Part B Application studies (48 points). Students admitted at entry level 1 complete 96 points, comprising Parts A and B. Students admitted at entry level 2 complete 48 points, comprising Part A. Note: Students eligible for credit for prior studies may elect not to receive the credit and complete the higher credit-point option.

Standard entry requirements

  • Entry level 1: An Australian bachelor degree with a major in finance
  • Or an Australian bachelor degree with significant work experience in the finance industry
  • Or an equivalent qualification.
