The Dr Paul Baker Scholarship was established in 1996 by Dr John Serry in memory of Dr Paul Baker, who was in general practice in Yarram, Victoria for 30 years. The scholarship was introduced to assist rural students studying the Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery with relocation and living away from home expenses.
Eligibility
Applicants must: be Australian or New Zealand citizens, Australian permanent residents, or permanent humanitarian visa holders; be commencing or continuing full-time undergraduate students; be enrolled, or intending to enrol, in the Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery at a Monash campus in Australia; be able to demonstrate financial disadvantage; and have moved from a regional or remote area. Selection is based on academic merit and need and offered to the highest achieving students. Tenure is dependent on maintaining full-time enrolment.
