Japan has long been and will continue to be one of Australia's major partners in economy, politics, cultural exchange, research and development. In this course you'll develop your language skills and gain a greater understanding of the political, environmental, and social issues affecting Japan and the Asia region. You can choose elective units depending on your areas of interest. You can also choose to add an extra semester or year of study in Japan at one of our exchange partner universities. You can combine Japanese with a major in Asian Studies, to strengthen your appreciation of Japan's historical, political, economic and cultural context, and its global engagement. Other double major options include History, International Aid and Development, Tourism and Events, Games Art and Design or Global Politics and Policy. When you graduate, you could become a Japanese specialist in Australia, Japan and elsewhere, particularly in the areas of education, hospitality, media, and public services.
