This Environmental Science major will enable you to make a difference in the world, creating a better environment for people, while sustaining biodiversity and world resources. You'll explore the interrelationships between air, land, water, plants, animals and people to address the challenges arising from interactions between humans and their environment. You will also learn the science behind how the environment works, providing you with the knowledge and capacity for problem solving to tackle current and future environmental issues. This is a highly-respected degree that has been the launching pad for many successful people employed in environmental science and management locally, nationally and internationally. We have turtles, quendas, endangered Carnabys and other black cockatoos on campus, living in our sustainable landscape including two conservation category wetlands and a banksia woodland. We use these as our 'living laboratories' - giving you the edge in training, experience and enjoyment in your degree. We maintain close links with industry to facilitate work experience for students, and opportunities are also available to engage in restoration projects and research on campus. The multidisciplinary nature of Environmental Science leads to a diverse array of professional opportunities spanning air and water quality, biodiversity and ecosystem restoration, climate change adaptation and mitigation, ecotourism, education, forestry, fisheries and wildlife, green energy, mining rehabilitation, natural resource management, parks management, policy formation, sustainability, urban planning and waste management.
